This was the first time, we were doing Tunnel Chute on the Middle Fork American River. We waited for a long time waiting for some other raft to go so that we could see the route they were taking. But, all of the rafts portaged at the tunnel chute. Finally, we just decided to go. The raft was set up nicely by Joe and all of us sat inside the raft as we hurtled down the narrow chute. None of us wanted to hit the jagged edges jutting out of the chute walls. In the picture, Bill is seen celebrating - Yeah!!" and Joe is shouting the command - "Forward! Forward!" as he still is sort of buried under the water. This was a thrilling run.
